Welcome to the start of the busy season at the Lodge! I hope to see you at the Lodge a lot for the rest of 2024 to help us support our upcoming events. The 4th annual Elktoberfest was a lot of fun and we raised $1,113 for the Elks National Foundation (ENF). Thank you to everyone who came and to Chris (and Lindsey) Wilkey (and his family that helped), Mike (and Lisa) Hacker, Dave Olsen, Tom Green, and Paul Groce for making the evening possible. Elktoberfest earns our club access to more than $10,000 in grants each year, so your support is appreciated. The Queen of Hearts pot continue to grow, so don’t forget to stop by each weekand buy your tickets. You can purchase the tickets anytime the Lodge is open.We still have tickets available to enter the gun raffle as well so make sure youhave a number in the tumbler! Don’t forget to join us every Sunday that the Colts play for our viewing party andpitch-in. We have had good attendance and would love to keep it going. If youare interested in volunteering as the bartender (permit required), please let meknow. October was a great month and we appreciate seeing all of you. If you have not made your reservations for the Veteran’s Dance, please do so today. This is a pre-pay event so please pick your table and entree. After dinner, the Radio Junkies Band will provide the entertainment from 9pm until midnight. The annual Thanksgiving dinner for members is scheduled for Monday, November 25, at 6pm. Please see any officer or staff member to sign up for this as having an accurate count for meal preparation is crucial. As always, this meal is provided free of charge but only to members (in good standing) of our lodge. Please make sure you are signed up for Thanksgiving Eve dinner. This is one of the busiest nights of the entire year and a reservation is the only way to guarantee youhave a table and also ensure we are properly prepared to serve our members. After dinner, we will welcome back some Elks favorites, Sean Lamb and Janet Miller Band. Just a reminder – tables will only be reserved to those joining us for dinner. The Hedrick’s already have the 2024 Children’s Christmas drive underway and we ask that you donate to this cause. Due to the generosity of the Elks 484 membership, many Henry County children will be provided special gifts as well as some necessities for Christmas. We anticipate the need to be high this year but are confident we can meet it. Recipients will be our guests for dinner and a visit with Santa on the evening of Tuesday, December 12. Breakfast with Santa will be mentioned again in December’s newsletters but for those eager to mark their holiday calendars now, that date is Saturday, December 7. The signup sheet is available and our volunteers would love to know in advance how many are planning to attend. The lodge will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29. On behalf of entire Elks 484 team, we wish you a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!! Kathy Hunt Operations Manager |
