March 2023 Newsletter

From the Exalted Ruler

I want to personally thank the members of our lodge for allowing me the opportunity to serve as your ER. In addition to the staff and officers, it isn’t even possible for me to mention all of those who have work behind the scenes to make our lodge better during my year. All of you are certainly appreciated. I know that Mike Hacker will do a great job and I hope that you will join me in supporting him during his returning year as ER. I am happy to end my newsletter writing with another 484 success story. Once again, Chris Wilkey lent his talents to a special project and the result was the purchase of 2 AED units. An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. This medical device is easy to use and it can analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart reestablish an effective rhythm. While we hope to never need to use it, we now have this life saving equipment available at the lodge and the bingo hall. Make your reservations early for dinner on Friday, March 24 as we have some entertainment scheduled. Tim Hinton will be providing dinner music from 7-10pm. Again, thank you for the support this past year!

From the Club Operations Manager

Hello! The short month of February flew by and it was a busy one. We are now looking forward to spring weather and our returning snowbirds! Once again, it is time to welcome the new officers who will serve in 2023 and 2024. To all of the officers who served last year; many thanks for your time and patience! A special thanks to our soon to be PER, Gary Purvis, for his continued commitment to our lodge. Please do all you can to provide our new (returning) Exalted Ruler, Mike Hacker, the resources he needs to ensure that he and his team of officers have a successful year. The full list of officers will be updated on the front cover of the April newsletter. March isn’t heavily scheduled but we will be having karaoke and the Treasure Hunt drawing on Saturdays to keep us hopping. Please keep in mind that Saturday nights are approved for guests so if you have family or friends that may be interested in joining the lodge, this is the perfect time to introduce them. With this month marking the eleventh anniversary of my accepting the club manager position, I want to take a moment to express my appreciation for those who always make the tough days (weeks and sometimes months) all worthwhile. I am forever grateful to have this amazing staff and all of my extended Elks family! Hope to see you soon!
