June 2023 Newsletter
From The Exalted Ruler
Wow. May was a busy month at the Lodge and I know we hit the ground running for June as well. I wrote this newsletter in the middle of May, but I imagine the Memorial Day Breakfast and Parade was a blast!
The PER Ball was a huge success, and I can’t thank our volunteers and staff enough. Cinda and her crew made the place look amazing and Tara and the kitchen provided a tasty dinner. And our waitresses and bartenders made sure everyone could enjoy the evening. Thank you to all of you and all the PERs for your service to the Lodge.
I hope to see most of you out at the CANCER GOLF OUTING on June 3rd. Hopefully you have already signed up, but you are welcome to still come and party at the Lodge after the outing (or join us at the course). This is our biggest fundraiser for cancer research, and it is all possible because of our members and local businesses. Remember – Support the businesses that support our Lodge and our fundraising efforts.
Our Lodge was awarded a $1,000 grant from the Elks National Foundation to provide toiletries and food gift cards for our local VA clinic in Muncie. That brings our grant total to $9,500 for the year! At our last initiation we brought in 13 new members. As our Lodge continues to grow, make sure to say hi when you see a new face in the lodge. And always invite your friends, coworkers, and family members to become members. Applications can be found at the bar.
Finally – A big thank you to L&K Farms for the flowers for the front porch. You always make the front of the Lodge beautiful, so thank you.

Hello! I hope this finds you enjoying sunshine and all the wonderful things of summer!
On Saturday, June 3, we will host our annual Golf Outing with the proceeds benefiting cancer research in Indiana. Unfortunately, it is hard to find someone that has not experienced the devastation of this disease and we are committed to continue funding research until there is no longer a need for it. Below are some details about the long history of the Elk’s partnership with cancer research in our state:
*Long before the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center was founded in 1992, the Indiana Elks Association was generously funding cancer research at the IU School of Medicine.
*In the past 50 years, Elks lodges from communities all over the state, have worked together on their “state major project” to generate more than $4 million for cancer research at IU.
*From golf outings to ladies’ luncheons to casino nights to Valentine’s Day dances, generations of Elks have worked tirelessly to support cancer research
*The State of Indiana is fortunate to have two major cancer research facilities which are located at Purdue University and Indiana University.
*Both institutions are recipients of Indiana Elks fundraising efforts and combined contributions now total in excess of $10 Million ($10,004.117.00).
Wednesday June 14 is Flag Day. Our officers traditionally conduct a Flag Day ceremony on the Sunday closest to the 14th but have decided to perform the formal procedural on the actual calendar date this year. As the majority of our membership have not had the opportunity to be a part of this special ritual, we invite you to attend! The ceremony honoring our countries flag will begin at 5pm on the lawn of the lodge.
