January 2025
From The Exalted Ruler:
Greetings Fellow Elks,

As we reach the close of this calendar year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had together. It has been a year full of memorable events and outstanding contributions to our community. I am deeply grateful for all the support you’ve shown New Castle Elks Lodge 484 throughout the year.

From the ER Ball in April, which set the tone for our year, to the multiple golf outings that raised significant funds for important causes, we’ve made a real difference. One such effort was our spontaneous fundraising initiative for fellow Elk Debbie Riggs, who is courageously battling cancer. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise substantial funds to support her. I’m happy to report that Debbie is doing well, and we sincerely appreciate your support.

As I look ahead to the final months of my term, there is still much work to be done. Despite the challenges I’ve faced, including Covid during the final week of December (yea it still sucks), I am committed to finishing strong. I also want to take this opportunity to encourage our members to embrace change and innovation. Let’s not be bound by “the way we’ve always done it.” To ensure our lodge’s future, we must remain open to fresh ideas and new approaches.

This year, we’ve taken some bold steps in that direction. The introduction of the ticket machine has been a resounding success, and while we experienced a few bumps along the way, we adapted and improved our strategy. Similarly, the new cash machine has simplified operations for both our bartenders and club manager, streamlining our processes. The 52-week gun raffle, led by Paul Groce, has also been a major accomplishment. I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to its success.
A special thank you goes out to Kathy Crabtree and Shelly Hinshaw (still Bennett to me!) for their incredible work on the lodge’s decorations this past year – your efforts have not gone unnoticed. I’d also like to express my gratitude to Pat Saunders for always being there to help or cover for me, even in some challenging situations.

I am incredibly grateful to the officers who have worked alongside me this year; your support has been invaluable. Let’s continue to move this Lodge forward, building a membership that reflects our values and the importance of this organization.

The strength of our lodge lies in the dedication of our members. Let’s continue to support each other and work together to achieve even more in the year ahead. And remember, please ensure that your dues are up to date, but also take a moment to think about how you can contribute to the success of our lodge.

We will be holding officer nominations at our meeting on February 6. If you are interested in stepping into a leadership role, please let someone know.

Let’s keep moving forward, together.

From The Club Operations Manager:
Just a short note this month to wish each of you a happy and healthy 2025 and to say a few thanks.

For everyone who helped make the DSC fundraisers successful again this year, thank you so much! I really wish that everyone could witness the impact of their generosity. The kids are always so excited for their visit with Santa and to receive their Christmas gifts. Just know that you made this a special holiday for more than 30 children.

On behalf of the entire 484 staff, we extend sincere appreciation for your participation in 2024! We had some very successful special events and have big goals for a prosperous 2025. We hope to see continued growth in membership as well as in club participation.

A personal note to the lodge staff and bingo crew: A million thanks for your hard work! Everything you do makes the New Castle Elks a standout and I appreciate each of you more than I can express!

Happy New Year and hope to see you soon!!
