February 2024 Newsletter
From the Exalted Ruler
One more. An inside joke, the premise of our latest bar crawl, and the number of newsletters Chris Wilkey needs to write for me during my time as your Exalted Ruler (after this one).
Thank you to Chris for helping me over the last few years with the newsletter and with planning the 9-1-1 One More Bar Crawl. What started as a birthday party idea has brought in over $10,000 for our community over the last 3 years. This last crawl helped raise money to help support the mental health of our first responders in Henry County. Thank you everyone who participated.
We will be having officer nominations at the February 1st Lodge meeting. We need members to step up be an officer (that means you). We also take nominations at the next Lodge meeting and will take a vote for our 2024- 2025 officers.
On Sunday, February 11th, we will be opening at 5PM for our Super Bowl Party. The Lodge will provide chili, but we ask that you bring something to share with everyone.
Valentines Day falls on Wednesday this year, so we will be having a special dinner for you and your significant other. Make sure to call and make a reservation as soon as possible. And guys This is your reminder that you need to buy a Valentines Day gift this year.
On February 20th, we will be having a dinner for the city and county EMS service. This is our way to show support and say thanks for all they do. If you see an EMS worker, please take time to say thank you.
One more thing. You’ll soon see some new faces at the Lodge as we add to our staff. Please welcome them to the Elks family. And thank you to Vicki Bowers for your time working lunch at the Lodge. You will be missed by me and all your other regulars.

A Super Bowl party will be held at the lodge on February 11 beginning at 5pm. This is a pitch in so bring your favorite sharable dish and watch the game with some entertaining characters.
Please plan to join us on Wednesday the 14th for our Valentines Day dinner. We will be serving a choice of Steak or Salmon as the special along with the regular menu. We ask that you reserve your dinner spots as soon as possible so that we are properly prepared.
The current officers year is nearing an end and I want to express gratitude to each of them that have given their time and resources to our lodge. Volunteering for a leadership role is gratifying for most but it does not come without its challenges and sacrifices.
It is difficult to implement needed change while staying true to so many practices that make our club a standout. It is only because of the 484 staff, membership, and those who lead it, that we are still here. While opinions often differ on the route to take, we have one shared goal and that is to ensure that our lodge is here for future generations!
Hope to see you soon
