April 2023 Newsletter
From The Exalted Rules
I didn’t expect to be writing this newsletter again this soon, but I’m excited that I have the pleasure to serve as the Exalted Ruler again for the Elks 484. Gary Purvis did a great job leading the Lodge last year and I hope to continue to build on our successes. And as everyone knows, this job wouldn’t be possible without all the amazing people who help behind the scenes. So, thank you.
You should have received your dues in the mail, so make sure to get those paid ASAP. I would ask you to consider donating to the Elks National Foundation with your dues. These donations help our Lodge receive over $9,000 in grants each year which support our free food pantry and provide children in the community with winter coats. You can always donate to the ENF at any time, just see an officer or Chris Wilkey.
We have two great events lined up for April. On April 8th, we will have the ER BALL featuring Stella Luna and the Satellites. And on April 29th, we will be having a BUS TRIP to celebrate Gary Purvis and his time as ER. We will be visiting the Franklin, Greenfield, and Rushville Elks Lodges. Spots are going quick, so make sure to sign up at the Lodge.
I believe this will be another great year at the Lodge and I look forward to getting back to work with Kathy and the entire staff. And I want to take a moment thank my wife, my family, and my Elks family for supporting me again. I couldn’t do this without you.
See you all at the Lodge!

Hello and Happy Spring!
I am confident that most of you are way more familiar with the New Castle Miracle League than I was (until recently). When the ER requested that we submit an article to the national newsletter about our Miracle League donation, I had to do some research.
For the few who may not be aware of what an amazing organization this is, below is the short article being sent for publication and it highlights the Miracle League purpose.
Also, please take this as a reminder of how much your generosity means to so many!
While the New Castle Elks has a long history of supporting all types of athletics, last month we held a very special fundraiser to benefit the Miracle League baseball program. Lodge #484 organized and executed a fundraiser that we called “Field of Dreams” and we are so pleased with its success! The result of this single event was that we were able to raise and donate $2,800 to the New Castle Miracle League. This organization serves children (and adults) who suffer from physical or mental disabilities which might prevent them from being a part of a conventional Baseball league.
Miracle League participants gain all the valuable experiences that only come from being a part of a team while developing their physical and social skills.
The support of teammates and coaches help to develop positive relationships and ultimately improves self-esteem and build confidence.
We take special pride in the role we played in this as it truly represents our commitment, to support young athletes with no exclusions. The “Field of Dreams” event helped to ensure that children with special needs are provided the opportunity to get out in the sunshine and play America’s favorite pastime!
